Wow – what a year we have had in 2020! We should all be very proud of the achievements and successes we have had, especially given the year we have had. With the many and varied challenges we have worked through them as a school community, showing great resilience and flexibility.
I would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank our wonderful staff for their continuous dedication and commitment to our students and the Parklands community. We are so very fortunate to have the highly skilled and passionate staff working throughout our school in a variety of roles.
This week has provided a number of events to celebrate the achievements of our students and also celebrate the end of the 2020 school year. Our Presentation and Celebration Assembly provided us with a great platform to acknowledge students. This was a fantastic event, which allowed many parents to view the assembly via our live stream link. Congratulations to all the award recipients and our Year 10 students. Wednesday evening provided a time for our Year 10 students and staff to come together one last time enjoying a meal and the opportunity to reflect on the past four years. We concluded the year with our school picnic at the Burnie Aquatic Centre.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank staff for their organisation and behind the scenes work to ensure a successful end to the year. Special thanks to Mr Frankcombe for coordinating the Year 10 events; Mr Crawford for his technical skills in live streaming the events; the Year 10 staff for their work with both the Assembly and Celebration Dinner; Mr Wells for MC’ing the Assembly and the arrivals at the dinner together with Giovanna; to the Health and PE staff in organising the pool and activities for the last day of term and to the office staff for their continuous work pulling together all the finer details of the week.
As with the end of any school year, we say farewell to our Year 10 students and also to those staff that are leaving to take on new roles and opportunities. I wish to acknowledge the following staff for their contribution to Parklands and wish them well for the future:
