Principal's Report

Dudley, Magella.jpg

As we wind up the term, it is always timely to celebrate our achievements and successes. This term has been one filled with great events and fantastic opportunities for all our students. These include:  Year 8 team building days; Year 7 first aid sessions; youth weeks arts project; year level and class excursions; sporting events – onsite and off; career presentation; and school events such as the MND Big Freeze and the Jock’s Ball. We have also held our school information evenings for our students in Year 10 moving into Year 11 and also for our 2022 Year 7 students and their parents, with a very successful evening last week. These evenings provided the opportunity for both parents and students to familiarise themselves with our school and also to learn more about what it means to be at Parklands High and part of our great team.

Our major focus for staff this term has been Mid-Year Reporting. Over the past few weeks parents received a comprehensive written report, with many coming along to Parent/Techer/Student meetings over the past couple of nights. A big thank you is extended the parents and students who came along and invested in the conversations; they are always so valuable. Also a huge thanks to our teaching team who gave up their evenings to invest in these quality discussions. Over the past two weeks, teaching staff have worked back late on four evenings, demonstrating their commitment to our students and their families.

This week also winds up the SASS Primary Prevention Program for our Year 9 and 10 students. The program has provided the opportunity for our students to be empowered to understand that their bodies are their own, and equip them to make positive, ethical choices while being part of making our community safer through their understanding. Thanks to Laura who has travelled up from Hobart each week to deliver the program.

As we move into Term 3, there will be a number of staffing and timetable changes to reflect staffing movement and the needs of our student. Firstly I would like to congratulate Tiffany Smith from our Front Office who has been successful in winning an Acting School Business Manager position at West Ulverstone Primary. Tiff will still be working at Parklands on Mondays and Tuesdays.  Nichole Lamprey will be stepping in to the Admin Clerk role on Wednesday, Thursday and Fridays.

For parents or students who will be purchasing uniform items over the holidays, we have attached an overview of the uniform policy and requirements which will ensure students are in correct uniform when they return for Term 3. Term 3 commences on Tuesday July 20 for students.

We hope everyone has a restful and enjoyable break.
