Senior Boys Football Report
It was a tough season for our Year 9/10 boys football team. They were limited to approximately 18 players each week, which resulted in little or no bench players for each game. It was a credit to the players to battle out each game in such trying circumstances.
We started off the season with a commanding 70 point win against West Coast at Parklands, with a home crowd cheering us on from the hill. The middle rounds of the season came with some tough matches, with some big efforts against Smithton and Marist. In both of these games we were right in it at 3 quarter time, only to run out of steam in the last quarter to lose both games.
We finished off the season with a trip to Sheffield as part of a sports exchange. Again, we were limited to just one player on the bench and with the game all tied up at 3 quarter time, there were some nerves in the team at the final break. The boys rallied on the final quarter to grind out a win by just 7 points. A great way to end the season!
A number of players in the team had never played a game of football before and it was great to see their improvement throughout the season. Hopefully many of these players continue to either play on in Year 10, or turn to club football as they leave high school.
