2022 Year 7 Parent Information Evening
On Wednesday, June 16 staff at Parklands High School welcomed our 2022 Year 7 students to our Parent Information Evening and provided them with a snapshot of life at high school. Families gathered in our Performing Arts Centre (PAC) where they were welcomed by Miss Devlin (Year 6-7 Transition Coordinator) and Mrs Munday (Assistant Principal). During this time, they heard about the transition process throughout the year, the structure of a typical high school day and the many engaging opportunities provided by staff for students at Parklands High school. After the initial presentation, families were taken on a tour of our school by our Student Leaders. The tour featured current students from Parklands High working with their teachers in the areas of English and HASS, Music, Art, MDT, Home Economics, Catering, DRUMBEAT Program, Science and Maths, Support Hub, Health and Physical Education, and our Cultural Hub with our Aboriginal Education Officer, Guy Grey. Parents of prospective students were able to ask questions along the way and gain great insight into a typical school day. The tours ended with a question and answer session in the PAC, however, there weren’t any questions – which we received as a night well done. All their questions had been answered by our amazing student tour guides along the way! We would like to acknowledge the effort from our staff at Parklands High in coordinating engaging and informative spaces for families to see. We would also like to thank the large number of families who braved the weather to allow us the opportunity to share our school with them. Transitioning to high school can be a daunting process for some students, and staff at Parklands High are committed to creating strong connections with primary schools, familiarising students with our learning spaces, curriculum areas and teachers, and ensuring the overall process is as seamless as possible. We invite parents who attended the evening to complete the Post Parent Information Evening survey using the link below; your feedback is important for us. If you have any further questions regarding transition, please contact Emily Devlin or Bianca Munday via our school office on 64640600 or by email emily.devlin@education.tas.gov.au or bianca.munday@education.tas.gov.au
